When you sign up, we collect your username, email address, and a securely hashed password. As you use GyaniBano, we record which questions you've answered and whether you got them right, your competition attempts and scores, and basic usage data (which platform you last used - app or web). On the Android app, we also collect a device identifier and push-notification token, and an advertising identifier for the banner ads described below.
Your data is used to run your account, avoid repeating questions you've already seen, calculate scores and leaderboard rankings, and improve the app. We don't sell your personal data to third parties.
The Android app shows a small banner ad at the bottom of some screens, served by Google AdMob - never a full-screen or interstitial ad that interrupts your quiz. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to serve and measure these ads; see Google's advertising privacy policy for how it handles that data. You can reset or limit your device's advertising ID in your Android system settings. The website does not show ads.
The Android app registers your device with Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send account-related and app-update notifications. This shares a device identifier and a notification token with Google; see Google's privacy policy for how Firebase handles that data. You can disable notifications at any time from your device's app notification settings.
We send account-related emails (verification, password reset) through a third-party email delivery service. If you contact us, we use your message to respond to you.
The website uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. We also log basic, anonymized page-visit data (no raw IP addresses are stored) to understand site usage.
You can update your password at any time from your profile. To request account deletion or ask what data we hold about you, contact us.
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
